Watch out for those Sooners

Monday, January 24, 2005
The Oklahoma Sooners basketball team is doing a great job of easing my orange bowl pains. First they knocked off Texas on Saturday and as I type they are polishing off the #9 Oklahoma State Cowboys. Ahhhh! Bedlam Bliss! If they can keep this up they will have a good shot at winning the big 12 and getting a high seed in the tournament. All of the sudden being a Sooner Fan isn't such a bad thing. Ohh there is the final score 67-57 Sooners!

Started my new Job today and it was incredible. I am going to really enjoy the people I will be working with and the Job that I have to do. Taught an APICS class tonight and that went well too. Another full day tomorrow with work and teaching, so better catch some sleep.

Duck Hunting Success

Sunday, January 23, 2005
We had a great time hunting this weekend. The weather was really cold. We shot a total of 6 ducks between the 3 of us, but the guide is going to let us hunt with him for free next Sunday so we are looking to do better then. We took 4 mallards (2 drakes, and 2 hens), and 2 green wing teals. I killed my first duck ever with my very first shot of the day, that was exciting. We had a good time shooting the bull even though the ducks were slow at times. We got Mike to go to the truck and get some coffee one time when the Ducks were slow. As soon as he left they started to swarm, Cory and I got some shots off but missed. When Mike got back it was still pretty slow, we kept telling him he needed to go back to the truck so we could get some action. He finnally had to go pee and as soon as he left about 6 ducks started to circle and look like they wanted to land, poor mike had to pinch it off and be still while we tried to get a shot. So here's to you bro.

Here Ducky Ducky!

Friday, January 21, 2005
My step-brother Michael, brother-in-law Cory, and I are taking off to Fort Cobb this weekend for a Saturday morning Duck Hunt. I went shooting with Michael last night and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn so I think the ducks might be safer than I wish. I haven't been hunting in five or six years and I'm looking forward to at least shooting at a few.

Ashley is busy trying to put her kitchen back together after my paint-a-thon last weekend and her stain-a-thon Tuesday night, I will post some pictures when she is finished.

Tonight's schedule involves driving more car salesmen crazy and then a trip to see the philharmonic at the Civic Center Music Hall. PopPop and TJ are going to watch Maddie, and feed her lots of pretzels. Speaking of Miss Belle she decided last night would be a good night to start eating cereal with milk. She hasn't been interested in Cherrios much in the last few months, so I gave her a bite out of my bowl and she went crazy, I think she ate about half of my bowl.

Hopefully my next post will have something to do with dead ducks.

Malibu Maxx

Thursday, January 20, 2005
We test drove a Chevrolet Malibu Maxx overnight last night and I think I like it. Having only one child and let me emphasize only one I think it might work instead of the mini-van. It has a lot of room for people, but not as much cargo space as a mini-van. Ashley says we have to look at a mini-van on Friday, so the hunt for the perfect family car is on and the salesmen are growing to hate me. I love it. Let me know if anyone has an opinion on the Maxx.

New Job!!

Tuesday, January 18, 2005
After a long game of hide and wait (3 months), I finnally got the transfer that I have been hoping for. “Sweet Chicken”!! I will be setting up and running a new Inventory Control department for (Crafts Etc.) a company that sells craft items to Hobby Lobby and online, they also manufacture rubber stamps and scrap booking stuff. Check out their website. The company that I did work for (Greco Frame and Supply) has been going through an acquisition, and I am glad I finally know where I am going to be working. This is a great opportunity for me and I will have plenty of chances to advance. I have enjoyed Greco and hate leaving all of the great people I have worked with, but I guess that’s life.

Football Conspiracy! (First the Sooners and now the Colts)

Monday, January 17, 2005
Enough is enough. I listened to all of the hype before the Colts game this weekend and really had my hopes up that this would be the year that Manning and company got it done against New England. I was so excited that the team I loved was in such a great position and 4 out of 5 people were picking them to win. Well I guess 4 out 5 people were wrong. The Colts not only lost, but they got demolished.

I am sitting there on Sunday as Payton begins to hang his head and the players all begin to loose hope and I realize that I have just been through this on January 4th. The Oklahoma Sooners gave the same such hype-busting performance when USC mopped them up. Same hype before the game, and everything. I don't understand why the teams I like are over-rated going into big games, but I don't think I can take anymore of it. I could handle losing as long as my team plays a good game. But no more of this "oh well were the best" and then just laying a big ole egg. I'm not going jump off the bandwagon or anything like that, but this has just been a weird year for the teams I follow.

On the bright side, I don't think I will have to worry about the Pacers being over-rated.

What a great weekend ahead!

Thursday, January 13, 2005
I hope everyone is looking forward to there weekend as much as I am. I know you are jealous, but I get the distinct honor of painting the kitchen and utility room this weekend, for this is what my wife has planned. And what she plans I do. You know your old when you look at an upcoming weekend and say to yourself "I will be glad when its over". Never thought I would say that about a weekend back in college. Oh well such is life. I am teaching a class this week and today is the last day, thank goodness. I am hoping for a transfer at my JOB, and have a meeting about it tomorrow. So I will wish myself luck.
I think the Sooners play Baylor on Saturday at least I can listen to the game as I am trying to get more paint on the wall than on myself.

Randy Moss Mooning

Monday, January 10, 2005

Posted by Hello

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss pretends to Moon the Green Bay crowd after scoring a touchdown on Sunday.

I only have a two questions.
1. Would this be such a big deal if it were any other player in the league?
2. If it is soo offensive then why isn't everyone crying foul about television stations playing it over and over again?
We didn't see the Janet Jackson fiasco over and over again.

Indianapolis Colts Coach Tony Dungy sheds some new light on the situation here.

Manning and Colts head outside to play!

After stomping the Broncos My Indianapolis Colts will head into the Great Outdoors to weather the cold of New England where the Patriots hope they will gain the upperhand. I think the Colts have the advantage with the defense coming together over the past several weeks, so I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for another record setting week from our offense.
Story from Len Pasquarelli

Palm OS Game Review: Knights and Peasants

This is a great game! Check it out here.

You can download a trial and play the simple version of the game. Then if you choose to you can buy the registration code and play the full version. I have played a lot of palm game, and this is one of the best along the stratagy line. I havn't had any problems running this game on my Palm Tungsten T3, and I don't know how it performs on other Handheld systems. Frank also offers the games PALM Wars, and Railroad check them out at http://home.wanadoo.nl/ph21/frenk/. I highly recomend checking them out too.

Deja-Vu for the Oklahoma Sooners

Friday, January 07, 2005
Read a great blog about the comparison of the sooners to the bills. Check it out.

The big question in Oklahoma Sooner fans minds is when will we finally FINISH another championship. And the bigger question is when will we have another chance. Things look bright for next year with good competition at quarterback, but it will hurt to loose 16 starters. So here is to next year and another shot at a championship.

Speak up Sooner Fans

So we just got ourselves spanked in the Orange Bowl. I know that when you woke up Wednesday morning you were probably much like me and didnt want to put on one of your sooner t-shirts or wear one of your sooner hats. You may have sat down in your office like me and thought to yourself do I really have to sit and look at all of these OU pictures all day long. But that was Wednesday and this is Friday, and like everything else the sting is beginning to wear off and I am beginning to realize that it just isn't all that bad to play in three of the last five national championship games. So I decided that we should all have a place to post our thoughts and here we are at this blog.

So come one come all Sooner Fans or Haters! Lets talk all things Sooner.

Boomer Sooner,

Matt
